Gates & Barriers Engineer Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (DOE)

About the Role We are looking for an experienced Gates & Barriers Engineer to join our growing team. This is a field-based role covering London and the surrounding areas, working on the installation, servicing, maintenance, and fault-finding of automated gate and access control systems.
This role would suit a hands-on engineer with strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, who takes pride in high-quality workmanship and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation, servicing, and repair of:
- Automated gates (sliding, swing, cantilever)
- Barriers, bollards, turnstiles, and shutters
- Fault-finding on electrical and mechanical systems
- Working with control panels, safety edges, photocells, loops, and intercoms
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Responding to breakdowns and call-outs when required
- Completing job reports and documentation accurately
- Ensuring all work complies with DHfG, Machine Directive, and Health & Safety standards
- Providing a professional service to customers on site
Requirements Essential:
- Proven experience as a Gates & Barriers Engineer
- Strong electrical fault-finding skills
- Knowledge of automated gate systems and safety standards
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
Desirable:
- DHF / Gate Safe / ADSA training
- Experience with access control, ANPR, or intercom systems
- CSCS or ECS card
- Manufacturer training (FAAC, BFT, NICE, CAME, etc.)
